TACKLING UNEMPLOYMENT-MY VIEW

 

How is an unemployed person concerned with GDP, or share market or statistics, he is more concerned about his ability to find a meaningful source of living. He requires all our attention as he is the product of an inefficient system.

Over the years both ruling, and opposition parties have skirted the issue of unemployment. The issue has been discussed with electoral advantage, not as utilization of our human resource dividend or find a long-term solution. The spirit of discussion is adversarial, not as a team to solve the problem

 To my mind Jobless ness is national problem involving active participation of both the centre and states and the unemployed. There must be division of responsibility, between the centre and states accountability’s so that there is no blame game.

While the central government can be a facilitator of economic growth, the environmental aspect is the responsibility of the state responsibility.

The factors contributing to joblessness in a country can be complex and multifaceted. economic activity, technology change at macro level, and adaptation of technology at micro level, Some key factors that can influence unemployment rates. Other factors are government policies, market conditions, and mismatch of skills of the workforce required for employment. Another key factor is society’s attitude towards the dignity of labor.

My suggestions are, initial identifying of skills before the board level examination, so that there is some guidance about aptitude of an individual ad gives direction for further choice of earning capability. Another proactive step could be starting of local upgrade schools by existing /new industry. This should be a prior condition before providing   infra support for startup.  With additional proviso of compulsory absorption of trained work force for a prescribed period. The training must include productivity and efficiency. by employees that renumerations are subject to productivity and are not a welfare measure. For reducing unemployment, society should understand and appreciate the concept of dignity and same must form part of syllabi in upgrade schools.

A national priority could also be accorded to Gig Jobs, (jobs with limited requirement of education and experience). With the rapid urbanization and technology, gig jobs like (Food delivery, security guards, medical support) are essential to support the growth of rapid urbanization of tier 2 and tier 3 cities. A concept of GIG job exchange could be considered.

A very pro-active approach is required for growth of Gig Jobs in smart cites. The states must also discourage of concept of wages without accountability.

Tackling unemployment requires a collaborative effort between the central and state governments, industries, and society at large. By working together, it is possible to create a more efficient system that not only addresses the immediate needs of the unemployed but also fosters long-term economic growth and stability.
